A May 2021 DailyMail.com video of former President Donald Trump boarding a private jet, along with aides dragging crowded boxes aboard, takes on new meaning during the Justice Department’s national security investigation.
The exclusive video came as Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump headed to Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, after wintering in Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.
DailyMail.com noted in a May 9 report on Trump’s move that “assistants appear to have carried a number of boxes on the run.”
What the public did not know at the time is that there were tense exchanges at the time between administration lawyers and Trump’s representatives over boxes of material from Trump’s White House that had been brought to his private club in Florida.
The video has now resurfaced in light of the DOJ’s investigation and because of its timing — just three days after the FBI contacted the Trump representative to request the return of government material.
The video, shot at the airport near Trump’s club in West Palm Beach, Florida, first shows the former president aboard a small private jet.

He is immediately followed by a man carrying something that resembles a large box of the kind used for documents.
He is in turn followed by a woman who is carrying another large box with two hands. She seems to refuse a man’s offer of help and loads it onto the plane.
Then a man carries another box, followed by a man carrying roll-up luggage.
He is followed by a man with a tall white box. Another man carries what could be two white boxes stacked on top of each other.
The FBI was ordered to search Mar-a-Lago for “documents and records constituting evidence, contraband, fruits of crime or other items illegally possessed in violation of the laws governing national security information.” and government documents.

The FBI had to show probable reason to get a judge to sign the warrant. The FBI has not been ordered to search Bedminster or any other Trump property.
On Saturday morning, anti-Trump PAC Meidas Touch reposted the video, writing: “May 8, 2021 video shows Trump boarding a jet from Florida to Bedminster with multiple boxes that closely resemble boxes of top-secret materials found at Mar-a-Lago. On May 6, NARA had contacted Trump’s team saying that documents were missing and possibly in Mar-a-Lago.”
That date was a moment in a series of contacts where officials from the National Archives wanted to return government documents. The back and forth would eventually result in a subpoena and an FBI search for Mar-a-Lago on August 8.
“We know things are very chaotic, as they always are in the course of a one-term transition,” NARA chief adviser Gary Stern wrote to a Trump representative. “But it is imperative that we obtain and account for all presidential data.”
Documents returned by Trump, as well as documents seized during the search, contain numerous classified documents.
The FBI said the FBI seized 100 classified documents during the August search alone.
Trump’s attorneys repeatedly referred to “alleged “classified records” in their latest legal filing, which seem to suggest that Trump may have released them, without saying so outright.
