During the State of Unreal 2025 event today, we were treated to a technical demo that offered an early glance in the unreal Engine 5.6 functions that will be in The Witcher 4.
At the start of the live stream we saw a short film from a group of men attacked by a monster before the images seamlessly turns into gameplay. Then we see Ciri, the titular witch and the playable protagonist of the game, coming out of a cave on a cliff after investigating the attack and showing off the never before seen region of Kovir.
According to CD Projekt Red, the gameplay shown runs on the base Ps5 With 60 fps, with jet tracing switched on, and it looks incredible.
Just like Geralt of Rivia, Ciri also has her own horsepine called Kelpie, and the two can be seen driving through the mountains and dense forests from Kovir to the port city of Valdrest.

The city is bustling with the hustle and bustle of NPCs, some of whom will respond to certain authorities created by the player, thanks to the Metahuman technology from Unreal Engine with Mass Ai Crowd Scaling.

The studio also confirmed that while the technical demo ran on a PlayStation console, “the functions and technology are supported on all platforms on which the game is launched”, including Xbox and PC.
