DEADLINE DAY: Man City want Akanji and Man United fleeing Cristiano Ronaldo to wait for late offers

This summer’s record-breaking transfer window comes to a close on Thursday, September 1, at 11pm, with several teams still eyeing important steps ahead of a long and demanding season.

Last week it was reported that Premier League clubs had broken the record for spending transfers within one window, spending more than £1.5bn on new players.

Sports post has looked at the players looking to get in and out of clubs before the summer deadline.

ARSENAL

STILL IN: Midfield coverage and a winger if the price is right. Danilo at Palmeiras, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Villa’s Douglas Luiz have all been discussed. Meanwhile, wingers Pedro Neto at Wolves and Mykhaylo Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk were deemed too expensive.

STILL AWAY: Ainsley Maitland-Niles is in talks with Southampton about a potential loan spell, and Newcastle and West Ham are also excited. Hector Bellerin wants his contract canceled so he can go to Barcelona and he has an offer from Sassuolo. Fulham is interested in Cedric Soares, 31.

ASTON VILLA

STILL IN: A centre-back, midfielder and forward. They are interested in Craig Dawson at West Ham and Jan Bednarek at Southampton and made a bid to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher yesterday.

STILL OUT: They’re open to offers for Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson. Luiz has a number of clubs that are interested in him late.

BOURNEMOUTH

STILL IN: Attacker, midfielder and central defender. Southampton’s Jack Stephens is about to be loaned out, while they’ve also asked about Rennes’ Loic Bade.

STILL GONE: No one like the squad will be judged by the new manager.

BRENTFORD

STILL WANT IN: Shakhtar’s Mudryk who has also received inquiries from Arsenal and Everton. It would cost about 25 million pounds.

STILL WANT AWAY: Nobody.

STILL WANT: Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour on permanent contract. They have asked for a loan for Fiorentina striker Christian Kouame and are about to add Rosario’s Argentine midfielder Facundo Buonanotte (17).

STILL IN: Submitted a £44million bid for Ajax presenter Edson Alvarez last night. Barcelona rejected a £12million offer plus Marcos Alonso for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Rafael Leao from Milan, Wilfried Zaha from Palace and Douglas Luiz from Villa are all admired.

STILL OUT: Baba Rahman has been loaned to Reading and Xavier Simons joins Hull. Injuries could prevent Gallagher from leaving. Chelsea has rejected a late request from Ajax to loan Hakim Ziyech.

CRYSTAL PALACE

STILL WANT IN: A midfielder. Palace have asked for Chelsea’s Gallagher and Leicester’s Boubakary Soumare, but both deals are tough. Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is another option.

STILL WANT: Zaha will be offered a new contract if he doesn’t leave.

EVERTON

STILL IN: Paris Saint-Germain midfielders Idrissa Gueye as a £9million deal, rising to £15.5million, for Manchester United’s James Garner is confirmed today. Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has refused to train to push through a move to Goodison Park. Meanwhile, talks are underway for forwards like Joao Pedro at Watford, Samuel Chukwueze at Villarreal, Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan, Ben Brereton Diaz at Blackburn and Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

STILL OUT: Allan is wanted at Monza and Andre Gomes could also leave the club. Anthony Gordon must stay as Chelsea are unwilling to offer more than £40million.

STILL OUT: Full-back Joe Bryan has been loaned from Nice.

LEEDS UNITED

STILL IN: An attacker and a left back. Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven is under discussion. Ryan Kent of Rangers is another option. Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner is waiting for a call, but Leeds’ focus is now on an attacker.

STILL AWAY: Tottenham are looking to loan Dan James with a buy option, but the offer does not suit Leeds at this stage. Midfielder Alfie McCalmont is likely to be loaned out.

LEICESTER CITY

STILL IN: A £15m deal for Belgian defender Wout Faes from Reims is being finalized as talks are underway with Atalanta for ex-Chelsea winger Jeremie Boga.

STILL WANT: Wesley Fofana’s £69.5million sale to Chelsea has been confirmed, Youri Tielemans could also leave for £25million.

LIVERPOOL

STILL WANT IN: The Reds have been looking for a midfielder like Konrad Laimer at RB Leipzig, but he’s coming to Bayern next summer. Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is lining up for next summer if no one else comes.

STILL AWAY: Stephens and Bednarek are attracting a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs. Goalkeeper Mateusz Lis is in talks to go to Troyes and Oriol Romeu is going to Girona. Yan Valery is in talks with French club Angers.
