Detransitioner, 20, is suing Planned Parenthood for ‘pressured her into transgender hormones and surgeries’ that left her genitals deformed and covered in hair

A 20-year-old woman is accusing Planned Parenthood of forcing her to undergo gender reassignment surgery at age 18, which would have left her with side effects for the rest of her life.

Cristina Hineman has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortion, contraception, reproductive care and sex education in the United States.

The organization has also become a leading provider of gender transition hormones for young adults in recent years, offering the service at more than 400 locations. This year, at least 40,000 patients have gone to Planned Parenthood for hormone treatment.

Hineman claims she was given a prescription for testosterone after a 30-minute consultation with a nurse after being ‘brainwashed’ by YouTubers, This was reported by The Free Press.

She said she had lasting effects from the testosterone, including hair on the backs of her hands and face. Her clitoris is permanently enlarged and feels constantly “uncomfortable.”

Meanwhile, Hineman says her sexual response has dulled and a double mastectomy has left her chest scarred and “alternately numb and raw.”

Hineman says she went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Hudson, New York, in November 2021, as soon as she turned 18. She was desperate to get testosterone after facing her parents’ skepticism about her gender dysphoria.

The teen was reportedly instructed to fill out a consent form for “masculinizing hormone therapy.”

According to medical records, a nurse practitioner noted that Hineman had “consulted with a mental health professional.” The nurse and Hineman then discussed “expected changes,” such as growing a beard and body hair and a deeper voice.

The two are also said to have discussed that “changes in fertility can be permanent or reversible.”

A year into her treatment, following surgery to remove her breasts, Hineman regretted her decision. She no longer believed her gender was the cause of her problems.

After the brief conversation, the nurse took Hineman’s blood and wrote her a prescription for testosterone gel.

Before the consultation, Hineman said she suffered from several mental health issues, including self-harm, depression and anxiety. She also has autism.

Hineman told The Free Press that the COVID-19 pandemic and isolation exacerbated her issues, and that the YouTubers she followed at the time convinced her that her gender was the problem.

She told the publication: ‘I’ve been brainwashed… A lot of people say adults should be able to do whatever they want.

“But if you have a mental health condition that is clouding your vision, or if you are so misinformed about what gender dysphoria even entails, then you cannot consent to such invasive treatments.”

She is seeking unspecified damages. Her lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, filed in April, is the first of its kind filed against the organization.

Hineman joins about a dozen young people who have filed legal claims against institutions like Kaiser Permanente and individual doctors alleging medical malpractice.
