Juror #6 is rejected as judge Vermaning Diddy lawyers for suggesting racism

Judge Arun Subramanian ruled on Monday morning that jury member #6, a black man, will be dismissed from the jury and replaced by an alternative.

The judge said he was worried about his frankness and whether he had answers in the shade to continue and stay on the panel. ‘

The defense during the weekend had argued that there was no valid basis for the dismissal and it would be discriminatory to dismiss the jury member.

“This was all part of a coordinated attempt to try to destroy one of the most successful black men in American history,” said Diddy’s lawyers in a letter.

Juror #6 is a 41-year-old black man who works in communication at a correction facility.

The jury member who will replace him is a white man.

On Monday, the judge said: ‘The defense released concern about replacing an African jury member with a white one …. the court takes this seriously – but further interrogation is inappropriate and the jury can negatively influence. That is why we have alternatives. ‘

The judge admonished Diddy’s lawyers for the resignation of the jury member about race and said that it would be ‘incorrect’ to make the decision based on the races of the jury member. ‘

The judge said that Diddy is ‘not entitled to a boutique jury’ who reflects his own race.

Diddy did not seem phased and stretched his arms in the air while the judge spoke.

Juror #6 could be started from Diddy Trial after ‘inconsistencies’ in his statements

Judge Arun Subramanian said on Friday that jury member #6 should be rejected because of inconsistencies in his statements about his place of residence.

These changes suggested an “effort to try to get to the jury,” the judge said.

“In the stirring room he said the daughter lived in New Jersey. Then he said, in the Bronx, with his aunt. In the Voir Dire he said he lived with his girlfriend – who lives in New Jersey. These are inconsistencies, “the judge said.

‘The reason we have alternative jury members is whether there are any questions. Where a question like this is, removal of the jury member is required. The jury member will be fired, he should not return on Monday. ‘

Diddy shook his head after the judge made the comments.

His lawyers had suggested that public prosecutors wanted to leave the jury member because he was black and was strong against the resignation of the jury member.

The defense then said that they are planning to demand a mistrial on the weekend if the jury member is rejected.

Judge Subramanian said he will make a decision on Monday morning.
