meerUT: A 30-year-old disabled woman was allegedly beaten to death by her neighbors for picking water chestnuts from their garden in Bulandshahr, police said on Monday.
Sunita Devi was returning home on November 8 after collecting the fruits when a group of women confronted her and beat her with sticks. According to her husband Omkar Singh, she suffered serious injuries to her head. Omkar claimed that when he took his injured wife to the local police station, officers ignored his pleas for help.
Shikarpur circle officer Vikas Pratap Chauhan said, “An FIR under BNS section 103 was registered against Manju Devi, 40, and her niece Kirti Kumar, 21. They have been arrested, while the third accused, Manju’s cousin, is a minor. ”
