Disney Pixel RPG is a mobile multiverse starring Mickey Mouse
Disney’s upcoming mobile role-playing game, called Pixel RPG, is now available for purchase Apple App Store And Google Play Store for pre-registration. And if you sign up now, you can get in-game rewards when the game is in September.
The story will feature strange programs that tear apart the previously isolated worlds of the Disney universe. With the merged worlds, Disney characters from the different worlds unite to fight evil and restore order. You will be represented in the gameplay by a customizable avatar — one of the pre-registration rewards is a hat.
The game will likely be a mobile gacha. It is being developed by Gung Ho Entertainment, a studio best known for Puzzles & Dragons, the godfather of mobile gacha RPGs. This is supported by the game’s social media postswho directly refer to “gacha pulls” in their marketing.
As with most gachas, the character roster will almost certainly expand over time, but Gung Ho has released the opening roster. Characters include Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Maleficent and Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Baymax from Big Hero 6, the Genie from Aladdin, and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch.
The characters also seem to be drawn differently based on their property. For example, Aurora and Maleficent are drawn with much more detail than the board game style art for Mickey Mouse and the rhythm game style of Ariel.
As for the in-game rewards you can get if you sign up for pre-registration, according to the social media of the game accounts, you’ll receive 300 Crystals — the game’s currency for gacha pulls — once 10,000 pre-register. The rewards will increase as more players join until 200,000 pre-register.
What is Disney Pixel RPG and who can pre-register?
Based on the website of the gamethe game appears to be an 8-bit style mobile gacha role-playing game. Gachas are games where players summon characters using in-game currency that can usually be purchased with real money. It is a gambling system that does not guarantee you will get the best characters, so you will have to retry often to get the one you want.
The in-game mechanics are still a bit of a mystery. Players can send their characters on expeditions to gather materials and resources, presumably for upgrades. Combat seems to have gacha RPG staples, such as multiple waves of enemies, fast-forward abilities, and auto-combat to help players level up and gather resources faster. The game’s Google Play listing says it’s designed for casual gameplay and RPG beginners.
For now, it appears the game is only available for pre-registration in some regions, including Japan and the US. Based on responses to social media posts, people are having trouble pre-registering in Europe and South America.
Gung Ho Entertainment did not reveal which regions the game will be available for pre-registration in, or whether the game will be available in other regions before its official launch. Gung Ho Entertainment also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Apple App Store and Google Play listings also say the game is free to play with microtransactions. You can also follow the game on Facebook And Instagram to view the latest images.
