Although there are Disney parks worldwide, there is always something special about the first. And at the moment Disneyland – the park that started in 1955 – is celebrating its 70th birthday, and you could say it is throwing a party.
And it celebrates the past and looks to the future. While the celebration is in Swing, you see the return of classic nocturnal spectaculars and the introduction of completely new, updates for some fan-favorite attractions, a series of new bites to eat and drink, good, drink and a heavy dose of technology to push the immersion.
I got the chance to visit Disneyland for the 70th birthday and it was also my first time in the park. It is sufficient to say that it was a lot to take and explore, and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the BDX Droids There were no, because these small, personal droids are currently on a world tour, with their next stop Disneyland Paris. However, the 70 -year anniversary activities kept me busy.
So now I share my five favorite things about the 70th celebration of Disneyland and why might be the best time to go, whether it’s your first time or you know the park like the back of your hand.
The Magicband+ unlocks special experiences
The Magicband+ is already an important part of experiences in Disney Parks worldwide, I am used to wearing one in Disney World and I even used it to become a boss hunter in Batuu at Galaxy’s EdgeBut for the 70th Disneyland it unlocks a technically driven, compelling experience at any time, day or night.
Remembering various Van Disneyland’s original day-one attractions are a new cabins theme for each of them and you guessing the al-a place to scan your magicband+. When scanning your tire, the machine plays sounds and lights with the journeys, but your Magicband+ will also vibrate and light up thanks to a built -in haptic engine and a series of LEDs.
With the jungle cruise at the lockers of the skippers, it even printed a ticket for a VIP tour on ‘The World Famous Jungle Cruise’ and let me know that I would be on board at the ‘Mekong Maiden’. It is not a real ticket, but certainly a nice souvenir.
You have to go on a treasure hunt around the park to find them all. These cabins are also in a fantasyland -window of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, in Frontierland near the Silver Spur supplies, and on Main Street at the front of the park is Tilly’s Booth. There will soon be one at the Autopia attraction in Tomorrowland. The experience will vary, but you need a Magicband+ to unlock it and make a memory.
Magicband+ can be purchased in the park or in advance of the Disney Store for $ 34.99. The portable can be your park ticket, a form of payment and a key to unlocking interactions around the park. You can check the battery level, perform software -updates and link it to your MyDisney account to link tickets via the Disneyland -app for Android or iOS -It is synchronized with Bluetooth.
Two completely new projection shows, and a fireworks show returns
Disney is known for its live entertainment productions – whether it is water with world of color in Disneyland or with full fireworks shows. Nevertheless, the entertainment offer from Disneyland for the 70th extends wide and side.
A highlight for me was two new shows with only projection, which are the outer frame of the It’s a small world Attraction in Disneyland and the Cathay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure in very colorful, animated displays with speakers hidden throughout the area play a bouncy castle for viewers to enjoy.

While Cathay Circle is a restaurant, the unique front and triangular finish present a distinctive canvas for Disney’s complex projection system. The resulting light show is impressive and talks about the expertise of Disney’s technology and projection cards. This show runs for about three minutes at night and is called ‘Celebrate Happy: A Little Bit of Magic’.
Similarly, the outer scale of a small world is a lot bigger, but not only a long flat surface – instead it has different heights and depths, with some parts closer to paths and other parts. The result is the “carpet of happiness” Show, Die Putt from Disney’s extensive catalog of characters and storylines, but more importantly, other parts of the park, including the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Scene projection design is done in the style of Mary Blair, the original Art Director for the Ride.

Both projection shows an excellent noise, although my eagle rougten could not indicate exactly where Disney hid the speakers. Believe me, however, it will be a lot loud. Hiding technology is used to show the stories and bring the facade to life with sound around, which is essentially how Disney creates most of these experiences.
Similarly, Disneyland also brings a fan-favorite fireworks evening spectacle, but it is more than just rockets in the air. The whole of Sleeping Beauty Castle serves as a project for projectors to display lively animations – many of which have been adapted – but this also extends to other nearby buildings and in Main Street.
Moreover, because of the power of what I believe, a kind of drone, “Baymax” by Big Hero 6 flies over heaven, accompanied by fireworks and epic projections. “Wondrome travel” will run most nights and lasts a little more than 15 minutes, so keep in mind that it must be right again.

70th touches for an iconic ride
Now I am a big fan of Toy Story-one of my favorite films without a doubt it makes sense that I enjoy a spider around Toy Story Midway Mania. It just happens that it is also a very technically soaked ride, with blasters mounted in a driving vehicle that will run and stop for large 3D screens. Goals – think of Bullseyes and dartboards – appear on the screens, so you can score points by shooting the wheel.
A rolling soundtrack also accompanies it, interactions with characters such as Buzz, Woody and the Green Army Men, as well as outbursts of air shooting, and again, beautiful chaotic visuals.
It was always a race of points, where you wanted to achieve the highest goals – ie 500 or 1,000 or 2,000 – but Disneyland lets you scroll higher on the leaderboard, up to 70 or 7,000 if you want, because they have added special elements to the game.
The Walt Disney Imagineering team used little more than a software-based update to increase an already beloved attraction, making it feel fresh and new for the 70-year anniversary.
Another ride that received an update was that it is a small world, with Miguel van Coconut Like a doll. This classic film is now streaming Disney+one of the Best streaming services. You can also watch Toy Story 1 to 4 See my colleague Lance Ulanoff Pak Pixar Typestry – One of the first pieces of software that the company made before Toy Story and countless other films.
Nice new food, but it is not necessary to wait in line
I mean, what is a party without food? And Disneyland answered the call by rolling out 70 new foods – ranging from coffee to feed you all day into one 70th stuff Dessert that was super good. There is something for everyone, and all these light snacks and drinks are available in shops in the park.
They are all very sought after, which leads to a few long lines, but here is the best tip I can offer you. Use mobile order via the Disneyland app on iOS and Android. It not only lets you skip the line and make a ride around Dumbo or another attraction, but it is also much more seamless.
Once in the park, open the Disneyland app, select the three lines in the right corner, tap ‘Order food,’ Select the location and make your selections. You get a window to return, and once you’re in the area, you tap “I am here, prepare my food for” to start cooking. You will then receive a notification with the window number to go, share your name and order name and you are ready for a delicious meal.
The best part, if you are on an iPhone, is that it supports live activities – So you can tap “I am here” from the lock screen without having to unlock and navigate by navigating the app.
A parade with more than a million LED lights, all synchronized
The amazing moment, and perhaps even a Hallelujah event for fans of Disneyland, is the return of the Paint the Night Parade. Yes, it is beautifully choreographed with excellent artists and exciting songs, but the real spectacle is the pure amount of color.
As the name suggests, the floats, characters and costumes are all decorated with LEDs that shine, glow and flashes, all in a uniform, synchronized beat for the music. It looks incredible at night. There are eight moments of the Parade, spread over floats and artists in various Disney franchises – Tinker Bell, Monsters Inc., Cars, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Disney Princesses, Frozen and Friends.
It is super impressive, just watch the video and photos, but it goes further than just LED string lights. Take the samples Inc. Float, who rides Sulley and Mike Wazowski – it is more than 21 feet with 17,000 points of light but also has five doors, as can be seen in the film, which rotate and rotate with more than 40 LED videos.
Or with cars, next to Lightning McQueen, the classic Mack truck is re -devised with an open rear trailer that consists of glowing bulbs that are struck and fill the entire space -in fact the glowing depth of 27,000 bulbs and 2,000 feet LED -Neon along the trailer creates.
All these LEDs are manageable and Disney Live Entertainment uses them all to make a show, which they combine with audio speech and classic songs. Disney shared that there are more than 200 control universe to operate the parade.
Moreover, a few extra LEDs light up and ‘dance’ as they are built into your magicband+ switch off when the different floats pass. That is magic, well, know RFID and your location.
All in all, this simply scratches the surface of the 70th celebration of Disneyland. There are also more iconic character-art installations in the resort to which you will respond MagicBand+, a buyable ‘key to Disneyland’ that interacts with memorable key hole around the parks, a Mickey Mouse Popcorn bimmer that responds to “Hey Mickey”, and a bubble wall with a USB-C-port.
Then of course there are all classic journeys, countless parades and “World of Color: Happiness, “Another evening show where you can vote on certain characters to appear.
The 70th celebration will be going on for a year, so there is plenty of time to go outside and enjoy it all. I hope for sure that all these technical immersion and entertainment-raised moments will remain and also transfer to other parks.
