Do you recognize these A-list stars? Aussie celebrities look unrecognizable in forgotten TV commercials for Crunchie, Twisties and Coca-Cola

They are among some of the most famous stars in Australia.

But before fame came to call, these A-list actors were busy cutting their teeth selling products on the small screen.

Since then they have skipped with praise and compliments and, looking at the earliest work of some of these stars, it is not difficult to see why.

From spying soft drinks to swimming about snacks, these future famous faces are proof that even the biggest stars had to start somewhere.

Although their first trips in front of the camera can be banished to the dust angles of the internet, they still still live further.

Here are a few Australian celebrities who look almost unrecognizable in their earliest performances on small screen.

Naomi Watts

Before he exploded internationally after her turn in the Mulholland Drive of David Lynch, Naomi Watts was a commercial veteran.

In 1988, when Naomi was about 20 years old, she appeared in a very colorful advertisement for Cadbury’s popular chocolate bar Crunchie.

Naomi looks almost unrecognizable and can be seen with friends for a milk bar before leaving crunchies for the gang.

While Naomi bites in the honeycomb fountain, her outfit miraculously turns into a screen that shows the future star with her movements at the disco.

The King Kong star also appeared in a commercial for Tampon brand Tampax in the early 80s.

She is going to be awkward with a range of puberty problems – her annoying younger brother, her irritated complexion, but according to the advertisement, one thing is that she does not bother her ‘time of the month’.

Naomi would have been around 16 when this advertisement was released.

The future star also appeared in a well -known advertisement for LAM, in which she turns a date with Tom Cruise in favor of a Sunday roast.

Russell Crowe

Russell’s face is perhaps immediately recognizable nowadays, but that was not always the case.

Prior to his breakout role in the Romper Stomper of 1992, the future Oscar winner was a happy coca-cola spray.

In 1987 Russell played with Pro Surfer Larry Blair in the advertisement, who also promoted the Coca-Cola Surf Classic in Manly.

Cate Blanchett

She was perhaps the first Australian actress who had two Oscars, but before Fame Werkte, Cate Blanchett praised the virtues of the iconic Aussie cakes Tim Tams.
