Dog professional reveals mistake he often sees owners make that causes them to misbehave
A PROFESSIONAL dog trainer has revealed the mistakes owners often make that cause them to misbehave.
The reaction specialist claims to have a trick that can improve his behavior in 30 seconds.
The dog expert, known as @yorkshirecanineacademy on TikTok, has six simple steps to follow and he shared them in a video on his account.
Speaking to the camera, he says, “Step one: remove your dog from situations that elicit negative expressions until step five.
“This could mean keeping to a leash in the house or stopping for a walk for a while.
“Step two: have them checked by the vet and put them on a good diet and sleep schedule.
“Reintroduce a crate if necessary.
“Three, teach your dog ultimate forms of expression. Ideally through play and recall.
“This should make up the majority of their exercise needs at this time.
“Four, teach them the basics of obedience, such as lying down, sitting in place, and walking loosely on a leash.
“Make sure we use a combination of obligation and reward.
“If you make obedience optional, you won’t get very far.
Number five: gradually introduce that obedience into emotionally positive distractions.
“And number six, reintroduce your dog to things that previously elicited negative expressions.
“Start very easy and gradual, and gradually make it more difficult.”
Another dog expert, Will Atherton, told Fabulous that the one breed that busy families often regret getting is the Border Collie.
“Border Collies are incredibly talented and excel at tasks such as herding sheep,” Will explained. “It’s a joy to watch them in action.”
However, he highlighted a common misconception: “People hear that Border Collies are the smartest, most trainable dogs in the world.
“But they confuse ‘most trainable’ with ‘easier to train,’ which is not correct.”
Border Collies have extremely high energy levels and require more physical and mental stimulation than most families can provide.
Without adequate enrichment, they may become bored and develop behavioral problems such as excessive barking, digging, or destructive chewing.
