President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Los Vegas on Sunday as the Southwest faces a sweltering heat wave, but his campaign is taking precautions as thousands are expected to show up despite the extreme weather.
Temperatures are forecast to reach just under 100 degrees Nevada as supporters gather at noon to hear the ex-president speak in Sunset Park, southeast of The Strip. By late afternoon, the heat is expected to rise above 100 degrees to 104 degrees.
The event is part of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s three-day tour of the West, including a campaign stop in Arizonafundraising events California and a battlefield state meeting.

The Trump campaign said it would take precautions ahead of the election Vegas event, where water bottles are made available to visitors and small umbrellas are allowed through security.
There will also be a shaded and air-conditioned tent area on a first-come, first-served basis, and medical staff will be on hand in case of an emergency.

But the conviction hasn’t stopped his biggest supporters from coming forward.
At the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas ahead of the ex-president’s visit, loyal supporters in red MAGA hats and other 2024 Trump gear milled around the lobby. Some even flew from New York and Minnesota.
At the bar, his donors reminisced about past sightings of Trump over beer and mixed drinks.
One cocktail on the menu was even called ‘Death by Trial’, but the bartender said this is not new, despite the current legal troubles and the now-conviction of the ex-president. The drink with a mix of rum and lime juice is not bad on a hot day.
At one point, a crowd gathered in the lobby as onlookers pulled out their phones in preparation for a possible Trump sighting. The ex-president was in town on Saturday evening prior to the meeting for a fundraiser with mega donors.

But the crowd slowly began to disburse as supporters realized that the possibility of Trump making a grand entrance into the lobby at that moment was a false alarm.
Nevada is one of the biggest battlegrounds for the 2024 presidential election. Biden won the 2020 election by fewer than 34,000 votes. But the pandemic and persistent inflation have taken their toll.
Nevada’s Senate race in the 2022 midterm elections was one of the tightest in the country, and Nevadans elected a Republican governor that year.
A series of recent polls from the Silver State have Trump in the lead. The Fox News poll from early June shows Trump up five points to 45 percent, compared to Biden’s 40 percent among registered voters.
