Donald Trump makes dramatic announcement about his 2028 presidential bid

Donald Trump has announced that he will likely not run for president in 2028 if he loses the election to Vice President Kamala Harris.

The 78-year-old former president said ‘Full size’ with Sharyl Attkisson in an interview that aired Sunday, in which he indicated that he does not see himself running for office again if he does not end up in the White House in November.

“If it doesn’t work out this time, do you see yourself running again in four years?” Attkisson asked Trump.

“No, I don’t. I think… that’s what it will be. I don’t see that at all. Hopefully we’ll be successful,” Trump said.

The former president would be 82 years old in the 2028 election. If he wins in 2024, he cannot run for re-election, as U.S. presidents can only serve two terms — 8 years.

Harris and Trump are locked in a neck-and-neck race ahead of Election Day on November 5.

While millions of voters will head to the polls on or before Election Day, the presidential election is expected to be decided by just a handful of states.

There are seven states that could go either way, but depending on which candidate can capture the largest swing states, the path to victory will narrow significantly.

If Trump wants to become the first president since Grover Cleveland to win nonconsecutive terms, his campaign will need to make a number of changes, a leading political analyst warns.

Douglas E. Schoen, who has worked for both Bill Clinton and Mike Bloomberg, made the prediction in an op-ed he wrote for the Daily Breeze on Saturday, hours after appearing on Fox News to provide similar insights.

The Democratic strategist said he would still “bet on Trump” despite Harris’s slight lead of late. He reiterated that stance in the op-ed, albeit with a few caveats.

He said Trump should remain focused on the issues at hand while working harder to connect Harris to a struggling administration that, according to recent Gallup polls, has only 39 percent approval ratings.

“Moreover, this would force Harris to defend the Biden administration’s record on key issues,” Schoen wrote — specifically citing “inflation, rising costs of living, and historic numbers of illegal migrants crossing the border.”

‘Given that more than six in 10 (62 percent) of voters disagree with Biden’s handling of immigration, and the same 60 percent disagree with the administration’s handling of the economy, forcing Harris to defend her record should be a top priority for the Trump campaign.’

Trump has already avoided death twice, surviving another suspected assassination attempt just two months after he was shot in the ear.

Ryan Wesley Routh is facing multiple weapons charges after he was caught fleeing the scene of an attempted assassination attempt on the former president.

The 58-year-old is accused of pointing an AK-47 through a fence at the Republican presidential candidate while playing a round of golf at Trump International Golf Club.

The incident came as Trump’s security has been beefed up in the two months since the former president was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on the former president with the AR-style rifle he had received from his father.

The potential assassin was spotted by witnesses before the shooting, and the Secret Service and police were alerted to his presence.
