Donald Trump says he will meet Prime Minister Modi next week | India News – Times of India


Former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week, Reuters reported. While Trump did not give the location, the meeting is reportedly set to take place during Modi’s visit to the US.
“He happens to be coming to see me next week. And Modi, he’s fantastic,” Trump said.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Flint, MichiganTrump mentioned the meeting during a discussion US-India Trade relations.
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that Prime Minister Modi will be in the US from September 21 to 23 for the Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden. He will also attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York and meet members of the Indian community during his visit.
Trump and Modi had a close personal relationship during Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2021. When Trump visited India in 2020, Prime Minister Modi hosted a huge rally that also marked the opening of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, where attendees wore “Namaste Trump” hats to welcome him. Similarly, Trump and Modi praised each other at the “Howdy, Modi!” rally in Texas, attended by over 50,000 people, when Modi visited the US in 2019.
