Don’t run to Aldi, go for Whispering Angel imitation that costs almost half the price
SCROLL through Instagram and you’ll be hard-pressed to find confident influencers drinking the instantly recognisable rosé Whispering Angel.
Loved by celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Adele, Provence rosé has acquired cult status thanks to its chic packaging and delicious taste.
But with a recommended retail price of £24 a bottle, it’s a bit too expensive for us mere mortals.
But fear not, as Aldi shoppers are flocking to the wine aisle for the £12.49 knock-off of this cult favourite.
Produced east of Aix-en-Provence, Aldi’s Chassaux et Fils Saint Victoire Provence Rosé has ripe berry characteristics combined with floral notes in the flavour, resulting in a wonderfully soft, lush and well-balanced rosé.
Wine expert Lucy Hitchcock, also known as Partner in Wine, has been bragging about the wine on social media, wondering if it might be better than the original.
“Am I saying that the new Aldi wine is actually better than Whispering Angel… I’ll let you be the judge of that,” she said.
Made from the same four grape varieties, it promises a high-quality wine at an unbeatable price. Customers can save 48% by choosing Aldi’s wine over Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence, which costs a whopping £24 a bottle.
But shoppers will have to be quick, as the drink has already caught the attention of rosé lovers on social media since it hit stores earlier this week:
A follower commented: “This looks beautiful!”
While another said: “We have to try this ❤️.”
A third added: “Run, don’t walk!”
Because Aldi delivers high quality wine at an unbeatable price, shoppers can be sure that they are saving money when they choose Aldi wine over other more expensive brands on the market.
Whispering Angel is the flagship wine of Château d’Esclans, a vineyard north of Saint Tropez, France.
After becoming a huge hit in the market, it became a favorite among celebrities, including the Beckhams.
The hype is due to the beautiful bottle, the Instagram-worthy appearance and the champagne-like branding.
Many sommeliers are convinced that Whispering Angel has made rosé popular again.
