‘Don’t think AAP needs any support’: Raghav Chadha says party will go solo in Delhi assembly elections | India News – Times of India
Comparing AAP with DMK and TMC, the AAP MP said his party, like these regional parties, is also capable of defeating the BJP on its strength in Delhi.
When asked if the INDIA Alliance will fight united in Delhi, Raghav Chadha said, “AAP is fully capable of defeating the BJP on its strength in Delhi. I don’t think the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi.” He says: “I am trying to divide all the elections of this country into two parts. The first category of elections is those in which regional parties are able to defeat the BJP on their own, such as DMK in Tamil Nadu, TMC in West Bengal or AAP in Delhi. This is the first category of elections.”
“There is a second category of elections where the Congress party becomes weak against the BJP in a direct run and is unable to defeat the BJP. In this second category, if the Congress gets the support of the constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, it can easily defeat the BJP, but if it moves alone, it may not be able to defeat the BJP, as we witnessed in the elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh,” he told news agency ANI.
He also recalled the previous Delhi elections and said that the elections were held in Delhi three times in a row and AAP formed the government on all three occasions. In 2015 and 2020, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP formed the government with the largest mandate in the history of independent India, he added.
The Delhi assembly elections are expected to be held in early 2025. AAP won 62 of the 70 seats in the 2020 Assembly elections and BJP won the eighth seats.
Earlier today, AAP national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar also said that the party would contest the Assembly elections in Delhi only.
Speaking to ANI, Kakkar said, “We will contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone. On one side it is the overconfident Congress and on the other side it is the arrogant Bharatiya Janata Party. We will keep our heads down and let our work be done. The last ten years speak for themselves.”
