A homeless man caught on surveillance last week hitting a woman in a Queens tube station was arrested ten decades ago for murdering his own grandmother.

The suspect, 41-year-old Waheed Foster, has a long criminal history, including an arrest for beating his grandmother to death in 1995 when he was just 14.

The elderly victim, Ariela Mascha, had 20 broken ribs, a stab wound to the leg and a punctured liver, police said at the time.

The brutal attack was sparked by an argument over money, police said at the time.

He was later convicted of her death, but it is unclear how long he served.

He was living with his grandmother at the time of her death and later confessed to killing her days after the fatal encounter when confronted by detectives with inconsistencies in his story, Newsday reported in 1995.

Last week, Foster allegedly shot a woman after she ignored him on a train, police said Monday.

The attack took place just after 5 a.m. on Sept. 20 when the 33-year-old victim attempted to exit the northbound A train at the Howard Beach stop without making contact with the man, police said.

Foster allegedly chased the woman off the train and assaulted her at the entrance to the subway, police said.

Judge Denise Johnson ordered Foster to be held without bail during his arraignment, records show.

The victim told ABC 7 she hasn’t slept in a week because her head is throbbing in pain.

‘Do you know how scared I am now? I was never one to be scared,” victim Elizabeth Gomes told the television station.

She said Foster was incoherent leading up to the attack.

Foster has a history of criminal activity.

“He’s talking about the devil. He’s talking about a whole lot of nonsense,” Gomes is said to have said.

Foster was also arrested in 2010 for stabbing a 50-year-old woman in the cheek and shoulder, police sources said. The violence took place at a mental institution where he beat two other people, according to a lawsuit that arose from the incident.

His other previous arrests include arrests for assaulting a woman with a screwdriver, criminal mischief, robbery and theft, the sources said.

In 2004, he attempted to escape from a transport vehicle while a state prisoner, the Post-Standard reported at the time.

Foster has two other pending criminal cases on charges of criminal mischief and petty theft.
