CNET’s expert staff reviews and rates dozens of new products and services every month, drawing on more than 25 years of expertise.

Whether you’re hosting or just looking for a night out, there are delivery services that can do the work for you. From craft beer to rare bottles, save yourself the trip with the best alcohol delivery services, starting with our top picks, Mini-bar.

Drizly, our previous top pick for alcohol delivery, is being shut down by parent company Uber, according to a report from AxiosUber acquired Drizly, a platform that allows local liquor stores to deliver alcohol, for more than $1 billion three years ago. However, Uber has decided to shutter the 12-year-old business and “focus on our core strategy, Uber Eats: helping consumers get almost anything, from food to groceries to alcohol.”

This story is part of Gift Guideour year-round collection of the best gift ideas.

But despite the shutdown, there are still plenty of other alcohol delivery apps available to try. And for those who covet rare bottles of wine and whiskey (and don’t mind waiting for them) or prefer to have their booze delivered alongside groceries or Thai takeout, there are even better options for getting the goods delivered — in some cases with same-day delivery — and saving money.

Below are the best alcohol delivery services to try in 2024.

Minibar tops our list of the best alcohol delivery service and operates in 21 states and DC and delivers wine, beer and spirits to your door, usually within an hour. It also offers statewide shipping within three to five days and an option for in-store pickup at your local liquor store.

As with most same day alcohol delivery services, you are limited to the stock of Minibar’s partner stores in the area. In addition, the stock on the website sometimes does not match what is actually available.

The good news is that in most cases you are supporting a small, local shop. The site stands out for its simple navigation, which allows you to quickly filter by type of alcohol, then by store, country, size, packaging and price.

Please note that alcohol delivery laws vary by state, so not every service is available in every location. Inventory also varies by store and service, so if something is out of stock now, it may be available again soon.

Total Wine has a wide selection of spirits, beer and wine and offers same-day delivery of alcohol – and even snacks – throughout 24 statesas well as shipping and in-store pickup. If you’ve ever been to one of the stores, you know how much selection there is, including domestic and craft beer and spirits. If you’re looking for good wine, Winery Direct’s deals let you mix and match six bottles for a discount. Bottles start at just $3.

Saucey offers 30-minute delivery or two-day shipping on beer, wine, and spirits, with no shipping fees or minimum order amounts — the price is included, so what you see is what you pay (there is a shipping fee, though). The catch is that it only offers its on-demand beverage delivery service in select cities. Check your zip code here to see if your region is included.

Fast delivery and unlimited choice are the watchwords these days. Online meal kits, grocery deliveries, butcher boxes, and food subscriptions save people valuable time and sanity by delivering perfectly packaged goods to their doorstep. The same goes for booze. Many of these alcohol delivery services work similarly to Uber Eats or GrubHub. You can browse the inventories of local liquor or grocery stores, and then an on-demand driver is dispatched to pick up your items and deliver them to you.

If you live in a state that allows alcohol delivery from local restaurants, you can probably order drinks through your favorite delivery app. Just open the app, navigate to the restaurant you want, and see if they have beer, wine, or alcoholic beverages available. In 2022, Doordash will begin offering alcohol delivery in 20 states.

Home delivery is great, but if you’re going to Walgreens or FedEx anyway, you can order from online retailer Wine.com and pick it up at one of those stores near you. The site claims to have the “largest selection of wines in the world,” and you can have bottles of wine delivered to your door or to one of those local pickup locations. You can also sign up for the StewardShip program: an annual subscription costs $69 and you get free shipping all year long.

In 14 statesyou can add wine, beer and spirits to your grocery order through online grocery service Instacart. Orders are fulfilled by supermarkets in your area. Standard delivery fees apply and you will need to show ID.

Are you a wine lover? Winc is a wine-of-the-month club and subscription service that recommends wines they think will match your tastes, based on a short quiz, for a monthly subscription to great wines. You can also search the site for whatever you’re looking for, whether that’s a red wine like Pinot Noir, a white wine like Sauvignon Blanc, or another type. If you select four wines, you’ll get free shipping each month, both on Winc’s own wines and bottles from independent wineries. Bottles start at $13 each. We named Winc the best wine subscription service for most people, thanks to the fact that it “offers an overall great value for the wines and an easy-to-use site.”
