E-biker held for 5 years for stalking city woman | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A Telangana e-bike rider was arrested for stalk and harassing a woman for five years using various Instagram accounts. A woman complained on August 2 that she was being harassed by Ravi Teja, a Hyderabad resident who claimed to be an engineering graduate and had been riding an e-bike for the past six years, and that he had been stalking her on Instagram. A case was registered by the New Delhi police district.
While TOI had reported about the incident on August 7, Devesh Kumar Mahla, DCP (New Delhi), said on Saturday that during the investigation, the details of various Instagram accounts used by the culprit were obtained from the social media company. Based on the technical details, the culprit was traced to Hyderabad. “We raided a few areas in Hyderabad and arrested him,” Mahla said.
Teja admitted to the police that his infatuation with the woman had escalated into stalking. He told the police that his father was a farmer and that he was the only one in his family with a college degree, but he had not found a job as an engineer. “He started e-biking and was also looking for other jobs,” an officer said. Another officer said that they would check his educational documents to verify his claims of being an engineering graduate. “We are checking if he has harassed other women. So far, we have found two Instagram accounts,” the officer said.
In her complaint, the woman wrote that she was in Hyderabad in 2019 and had booked an e-bike service. After the ride, the woman received a call from Teja. She complained to the e-bike service and his number was blocked.
However, Teja later created multiple social media accounts and began harassing her for five years. The woman repeatedly warned him to stop texting her and threatened to file a complaint complaint to the policebut her pleas fell on deaf ears. The accused sent messages like, “Do men ever leave?” and “They will remember their girl forever.” He sent his love confessions and creepy assurances through various Insta IDs, in which he professed his love and promised her that he would not leave her alone. He did not take no for an answer.
One day, the accused told her that he had her private photos. “This really bothered me and made me aware of my privacy. I started to fear that he would misuse my photos and blackmail me. I was traumatized by his actions and feared for my safety and security,” the woman wrote in her complaint. This threat led the woman to tell her parents about the intimidation and ultimately file a complaint with the police.
