‘Ek rahenge toh safe rahenge’: PM Modi accuses Congress-JMM of creating caste divide | India News – Times of India
“The OBC community was given reservation in 1990. The numerical strength of various OBC castes added up, since then Congress has failed to win even 250 seats in the Lok Sabha so far. Therefore, Congress wants to break this collective power of OBC and by breaking this power it wants to divide OBC into hundreds of different castes,” Prime Minister Modi attacked the grand old party, which has been adamant about its demand for a caste survey in the country.
“The Congress has always been strongly opposed to SC/ST/OBC unity. After Independence, as long as SC society remained dispersed, ST society remained dispersed, OBC society remained dispersed, and Congress continued to form governments at the highest level. But once this community came together… Congress again could not form a government at the Center with an absolute majority,” he added.
Scenes from Bokaro
Earlier today, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had called on the Prime Minister to answer questions on the promises made during the 2014 Assembly elections in the state, including those of engineering colleges. He also asked “why has the Prime Minister denied Adivasis their religious identity and refused to promulgate the Sarna Code?” However, Prime Minister Modi did not comment on these issues.
“During his campaign for the 2014 Jharkhand assembly elections, Mr Modi had promised a series of industrial and educational projects, including a premier IT institute and several engineering colleges. However, only two institutions were ever established, NIELIT Ranchi and CIPET Khunti. , after 9 and 7 years respectively, have no permanent campus. The government of Dr. Manmohan Singh, on the other hand, established high-quality institutions such as IIM Ranchi and a Central University. Why has the non-organic Prime Minister failed to deliver the institutions he promised a decade ago?” Ramesh wondered.
However, in his address to the state in Bokaro, Prime Minister Modi promised to develop the state, saying that “people who oppose the creation of Jharkhand will never develop a state.” He accused Congress of not providing funds to the state when it was in power.
“Ten years ago today, from 2004 to 2014, there was a Congress government at the centre, Mrs. Sonia ji headed the government and Manmohan Singh ji became the Prime Minister. At that time, the central government had with great difficulty given Rs 80 thousand crores to Jharkhand in 10 years. After 2014, the government changed in Delhi, you gave your servant Modi an opportunity to serve and in the last Decade, we have given more than Rs 3 lakh crore to Jharkhand,” he said.
