Elden Ring Nightreign is a multiplayer survival spin-off revealed at the Game Awards
Less than six months after acquiring the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, studio FromSoftware has revealed the next chapter in the critically acclaimed game. The new trailer debuted Thursday during The Game Awards in Los Angeles. Elden Ring Nightreign – and the game will be released in 2025.
The trailer showed armored humans fighting monsters, typical of an Elden Ring adventure. But the game is not a new DLC, but a co-op survival game FromSoftware press release reads. Although it carries over weapons and abilities from the core Elden Ring, “the game design has been overhauled to give players a completely new gameplay experience. Players will choose from a cast of unique characters to face a new threat,” the release said.
Nightreign will feature a mix of RPG elements such as dungeon exploration, character leveling and intense battles against powerful enemies, the release reads – much like the base Elden Ring. The difference? Players must work together to survive three days, at the end of which comes the so-called “onset of Night” when the Nightlords come to challenge the players.
From launch, it appears that the world may remain the same, but key locations, enemies, and weapons may change. Players can choose from eight unique characters divided into different classes with unique abilities.
