Elden Ring patch 1.14 makes Shadow of the Erdtree final boss easier
FromSoftware has released a new update for Old Ring which introduces a number of adjustments Shadow of the Erdtree‘s final boss.
Players who have faced him before generally consider Promised Consort Radahn to be the most difficult opponent in the expansion. Those who have had trouble with him will be happy to hear that the final boss has now been significantly weakened.
As detailed in the patch notes For version 1.14, FromSoftware has adjusted the boss’s action pattern when the fight begins. This may mean that he will no longer dive headfirst into the arena when you enter. A few attack moves have also been adjusted, but it is not stated which ones.
The damage and stamina of some of Radahn’s attacks have also been reduced. The attack range of some non-weapon based attacks has also been reduced, which could indicate that his abilities have been reached in phase three. The visibility of the effects of some attacks has also been improved.
In addition to the patch’s highlight, the update also sees adjustments to PvP gear and skills, as well as some base game gear, enchantments, and spells getting the usual tweaks.

- The “Spread Crossbow” weapon will no longer cause the movement of headshot damage when hitting another player

Discus throw
- The damage animation value generated by this skill when hitting another player has been reduced
Weed cutter
- The balance value of follow-up attacks has been reduced when using this skill against other players
General balance adjustments
Equipment:
- The attack speed of the uncharged version of the first heavy attack has been increased for the following weapon types:
Dagger / Throwing Blade / Straight Sword / Great Sword / Colossal Sword / Heavy Thrust Sword / Curved Sword / Double-Bladed Sword / Katana / Great Katana / Axe / Flail / Great Spear (except Snake Hunter) / Halberd / Reaper / Whip (except Urumi) / Hand-to-hand Arts / Animal Claw. - After performing left-handed attacks with weapons from the Great Katana category, right-handed attacks now take longer to cancel.

Possible solutions for unstable performance
- For the PS5 version of the game, the unstable framerate can be improved by using the ‘Rebuild Database’ option in the device’s Safe Mode.
- In some PC versions, Ray Tracing may be enabled unintentionally and cause unstable performance. Check the Ray Tracing setting in “System” > “Graphics” > “Ray Tracing Quality” on the title screen or in the in-game menu.
- In the PC version, the message “Inappropriate activity detected” may appear without you cheating. To resolve this issue, verify the integrity of the game files before restarting the game.
- In the PC version, unstable framerate can be caused by third-party applications that control mouse behavior. Disabling these third-party applications can improve performance.
