Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree releases on June 21, but the reviews for the expansion are already out. As expected, the DLC has been widely praised, as has the base game. In fact, Shadow of the Erdtree is now the highest-rated DLC ever, according to its Metacritic score. The PS5 version of the Elden Ring expansion currently holds a 95 score on the review aggregator’s site, making it one of the highest-rated games of all time.

When it comes to expansions, Shadow of the Erdtree currently tops the list. For the Elden Ring expansions, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine was the highest-rated DLC on Metacritic with a score of 92. Note that the review score may change as more reviews come in for the expansion.

Last week, developer FromSoftware confirmed that Elden Ring has sold 25 million copies worldwide. The action RPG, set for release in 2022, is FromSoftware’s best-selling title, well ahead of the developer’s other popular games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dark Souls III, both of which have sold over 10 million copies.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree requires the base game to play. It will focus on the story of Miquella, brother of Malenia, and will be set in the Realm of Shadow, a brand-new area in the world of the Elden Ring. The expansion will also introduce a menacing new antagonist, Messmer the Impaler. Shadow of the Erdtree will release on June 21 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
