Elon Musk’s X Gives Users the Ability to Hide Messages from Grok AI Chatbot
Elon Musk’s X allows users to prevent their messages and interactions from contributing to the training of his artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok.
By default, settings for X users allow their data to be provided to the chatbot. But βall X users have the ability to control whether their public messages can be used to train Grok, the AI ββsearch assistant,β the company wrote in a post on X on Friday. βThis setting is available on the web platform and will roll out on mobile soon.β
The company added that users can also prevent their information from being processed by the chatbot by making their accounts private.
Grok, an AI chatbot currently available to premium subscribers on X, was first released in November of last year as a rival to OpenAIβs ChatGPT. The chatbot is part of artificial intelligence startup xAI, which is also owned by Musk, and was trained on X data.
Musk has been vocal about using Xβs data to train Grok. The AI ββchatbot has already used Xβs messages to summarize news events and answer questions with real-time information.
Representatives of X had no further comment.
