Energy expert shares 3p hack that will keep you warm all night
THE nights are getting longer and the cold weather is approaching, and the temptation to reach for the thermostat is greater than ever.
The coming winter for Britain is forecast to be one of the most challenging in recent years, with the likelihood of colder temperatures, more snowfall and increased storm activity – and with it comes the familiar battle of how to stay warm without your energy bills shoot up?
Luckily, there’s a simple trick to keep you warm all night long, and it’ll only cost you a penny.
According to data, electric blankets cost just 3 cents per hour, which is all you need to keep you cozy all night long as they use minimal energy.
Most operate at around 100 watts, meaning you can warm your bed and yourself without turning up the thermostat.
Adele Brennan, Buyer for Home Electricals at Vonhaus, says: “For best results, turn on your blanket about 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime so you can get a nice warm feeling while snuggling in bed.

“You can even put it on a timer to prevent it from accidentally being left on all night – just enough warmth to get you through the coldest hours.”
For those looking for electric blankets, Amazon is currently offering the Monhouse Heated Throw for £20 cheaper than the RRP.
Reduced to £39.99 from £59.99 for the double size. It comes with nine heat settings and a timer that gives you up to nine hours before it automatically shuts off. You can mix and match your heat quota.
Keep it low if you’re one of those hardy souls who doesn’t really feel the cold, or if like me you’re an icicle as soon as the sun goes down.
Amazon shoppers love it too. One reviewer wrote: “This blanket has been an absolute godsend this past winter and has allowed us to keep heating to a minimum at night, saving us a small fortune on gas. It doesn’t use a lot of electricity, so it’s a real cost saver.”
Another said: “Absolutely love it this throwI can’t believe I didn’t buy one sooner!
“It’s so comfortable that I can snuggle into it at night and it’s big enough that I can put it on myself while I work from home.
“It literally costs a penny to run and I’ve already worn it nine hours before.”
