Ernst & Young introduces eVe, an AI interview coach for its applicants

Ernst & Young (EY), one of the ‘Big Four’ consultancy firms, has integrated the metaverse element from Web3 into its recruitment process. The London-based company, which also has offices in India, has launched a service called eVe, which essentially provides a pre-interview warm-up for candidates applying for a position with the company. The service aims to help applicants gather information about the do’s and don’ts before appearing for in-person job interviews.

The eV platform lets job seekers come into contact with an AI avatar of an EY employee. This avatar is seen in an inverted setting with a photorealistic background of what appears to be an EY office.

The avatar, which currently only supports the English language, invites visitors to ask their questions about the EY application process.

“You can ask me a wide range of questions about job interview preparation and wellbeing benefits at EY. For job interviews, you can inquire about behavioral interviews, technical interviews or case studies. If you have a specific question in mind, feel free to ask,” says the digital assistant.

It then explains how people can navigate finding and applying for vacancies at the company, which has registered a record estimated a global turnover of approximately $51 billion (approximately Rs. 4,29,796 crore) by 2024.

People can ask eVe questions about EY compensation, pension plans and other related follow-up questions.

It’s worth noting that EY’s digital avatar doesn’t yet offer a virtual tour of EY offices. However, it does save the chat records so that users can revisit the notes shared by the AI assistant. The company has shared an email ID addressed to its ‘metaverse lab’ unit so that people can report any complaints about the platform’s service.

According to one report from Business Insider, candidates who apply to EY will receive a link to eVe where they can have their frequently asked questions about the application process answered in detail. The eVe platform was rigorously tested for months before being rolled out, the report said. Citing EY’s global leader Metaverse Lab, the report noted that younger applicants spend an average of 15 to 20 minutes interviewing with eVe.

According to one blog post by EY, the Cognitive Human Enterprise team has created a virtual world.

“With the market estimated to reach $800 billion (approximately Rs. 67,42,664 crore) in two years, the metaverse has the power to transform all industries. Organizations that address the innovation potential now will be well positioned to seize the opportunities this will provide,” the blog said.
