The player has therefore decided to take matters into his own hands by essentially going on strike, as Brazilian winger Antony did before moving to Manchester United for £85million earlier this week.

Antony was scolded by Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder, who harshly criticized his performance, but eventually got his wish to be reunited with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

In the Ziggo Sport program Rondo, Ajax boss Schreuder said it was “weird” that Antony went on strike and revealed that the attacker “was finally talked about it”.

When asked whether Antony can be fined, Schreuder adds: ‘Absolutely. I don’t think it’s good that it can be done within our club.

‘If you’re Ajax, it’s just bad that this happens. I’ve discussed it with him. If you’re disappointed for a day or two, I understand, but at some point you’re a pro.

“Then I said, ‘I’m going to continue with the guys out there’. At some point you get mad about it, like… what are we doing? Looking at the overall picture, this frustrates you as a trainer, but also how you stand in the world.

‘Then I think: ‘you’re just a player, you just have to do your thing’. But my personal feeling is that it’s just bad.’

Having witnessed Antony’s mutiny firsthand, Kudus clearly feels he too can force a move to the Premier League by using similar tactics.

The summer transfer window in England closes on Thursday evening at 11 p.m., about 24 hours after the Dutch window after the authorities there made a mistake.
