Every ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameo You Thought You Saw
Deadpool & Wolverine is finally out in theaters. Ever since Deadpool 2 stormed into theaters six years ago, fans have been speculating about possible cameo appearances. With 20th Century Fox handing over the proverbial keys to Disney, it marked a new era for the Marvel superhero franchise. And now that the film is out for audiences to devour, we’ve finally had the chance to check out all the wild and wonderful cameos you won’t want to miss once you’re in theaters.
So who can you expect to see show up? Topping the list is the cast of the X-Men film franchise: Could Storm (Halle Berry), Cyclops (James Marsden), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart) or Magneto (Ian McKellen) return to the big screen? In the Marvel Multiverse, anything is possible.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, the titular characters fight to preserve their legacies while restoring their self-worth within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The comic book cameo crew, whom the duo encounters in The Void (the Time Variance Authority’s alien garbage dump), share that they, too, are pariahs, somehow cast aside without a proper conclusion to their storylines.
Either franchises were cut short, sequels were canceled, or announced films never materialized. The point is that most of these heroes are rescued from their own void to be given another chance to shine, and a few others are just hanging around for the heck of it.
Be warned, There are major spoilers after this pointIf you don’t want to know who showed up until you see Deadpool & Wolverine, I suggest you turn back now.

Chris Evans brought The Human Torch to the MCU
Chris Evans’ appearance is a delicious bait-and-switch. He became a household name for his portrayal of Captain America in the MCU’s Infinity Saga. But his first foray into superhero cinema was as Johnny Storm — aka The Human Torch — in the Fantastic Four films of the early 2000s.
The rumor mill has been churning out speculation that Evans would reprise his role as Cap here and there, so his appearance in Deadpool 3 was nothing short of exciting. When the “flame on” reveal came, it kicked off a fun trend of bringing back forgotten superheroes from two decades ago. Storm’s own story in Deadpool & Wolverine ended in the most gruesome fashion after a barrage of profane insults meant to represent the difference between him and the always honorable Steve Rogers.
Dafne Keen as Laura Howlett (aka X-23)
Dafne Keen, returning as a grown-up X-23 she first played in Logan, is the necessary glue to establish — and maintain — the film’s emotional stakes. Wolverine saved her life in the 2017 film, ultimately costing him his.
Here she is part of the resistance fighters who help Wade and Logan escape from The Void. And more importantly, she makes sure that this Wolverine comes to help the team. And not to forget, it is X-23 who brings Juggernaut’s helmet to Deadpool and Wolverine to block her invasive mind powers. Logan gives her another chance at life and she survives the movie to see another day.
Channing Tatum’s Gambit has finally happened
The character of Gambit — also known as Remy LeBeau or the Ragin’ Cajun — found new life on the small screen in the recent X-Men 97 animated series. Hailing from New Orleans, the supporting X-Men character dabbles in playing cards that create kinetic explosions upon impact. He may not be a leading figure in the mutant team, but he’s beloved nonetheless.
In 2014, a Gambit movie was announced by Twentieth Century Fox, with Channing Tatum set to play the character. The movie never made it out of development hell. Directors Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) were attached to the project at various times. Edgar Wright turned down the opportunity to helm the project. Tatum even offered to co-direct the film at one point. It goes without saying that Marvel movies a painful subject for him.
Tatum’s appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine comes with a lot of baggage. It also provides Tatum with the creative outlet he’s been focusing on for over a decade. Could his Gambit film now get new eyes? In Hollywood, anything can happen.
Jennifer Garner’s Elektra Got Its Epic Ending
Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra Natchios was the only cameo in Team Deadpool that was officially announced prematurely. In 2003, the Alias star appeared on the big screen in Fox’s Daredevil film with Ben Affleck. Two years later, she appeared in a spin-off film of the same name. It was not well-received and has left the character in limbo ever since.
Her return here brings an unexpected sense of closure for Elektra. Yes, she’s the first member of the resistance that Deadpool and Wolverine encounter in the Void. She helps them infiltrate Cassandra Nova’s enclave to escape. The icing on the cake is her telling Deadpool not to be mad that Daredevil died in the Void. For an actress who has remained largely private about her married life, that was a pretty delightful little joke.
Henry Cavill as Wolverine
Once Deadpool realizes that an anchor creature is missing from his world, he takes it upon himself to hop through the multiverse and find a new Wolverine. Henry Cavill (aka the Cavill-rine) turns out to be one of the Wolverine iterations he encounters. Fans first see the muscular DC star from behind, and he turns out to be another overly grumpy iteration who Deadpool throws into the bar where he meets Jackman’s Wolverine as the one he’ll spend the rest of his adventure with.
Wesley Snipes is the only Blade we need
Of all the characters he’s played, Wesley Snipes is probably best known for his portrayal of Blade, Marvel’s daywalking vampire hero. He appeared in three films, sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds in the third installment — 2004’s Blade Trinity.
Fans have been wanting a new Blade movie for a while now. The project, starring Mahershala Ali, has been hit with one hurdle after another in development. Until his take on the infamous bloodsucker sees the light of day, the original Blade movies will have to scratch that itch.
There’s always Deadpool & Wolverine . Snipes’ reprise of the character is exciting, to say the least. Twenty-six years after he first burst onto the screen as the vampire antihero, his laid-back confidence — trench coat, sunglasses, fangs and all — adds an element of down-to-earth cool to the mix here. And it’s also fun to see the character step out of the horror movie realm and into a full-blown comic book blockbuster.
The Hulk
Is a Marvel movie ever really a Marvel movie without the Hulk making an appearance? Early in the film, the big green guy battles a version of Wolverine wearing the iconic orange and brown suit he debuted in Uncanny X-Men issue #139.
Honorable Mentions: Blake Lively and Matthew McConaughey
She never revealed her face, but Lady Deadpool came and went quickly in the film, played by Blake Lively. She and her husband tried to mislead fans, but if you watch the credits, you can confirm it.
Last but not least, Matthew McConaughey lends his recognizable voice to Cowboy Deadpool, one of the many Deadpool variations who appears in a big fight.
