The nickname is traditionally associated with an iconic singer from the 1970s.

But the battered mother doesn’t want to name her daughter that in honor of the musical icon.

She and her husband actually consider the name a tribute to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde writerRobert Louis Stevenson.

They want to name their daughter Stevie.

“I have two children, Louis and Robyn,” the mother explained on Mumsnet.

“My husband is a fan of Robert Louis Stevenson, although our children’s names are coincidental.

“And he thinks it’s funny to name our daughter, who will be born in November, Stevie, as a funny little tribute to his favorite author.

“Although I have names I like better, I’m starting to like Stevie more and more. However, I don’t know how common the name is as a girl’s name and I don’t want her to get bullied.”

She admitted that their trilogy of names may have been “ridiculous,” and was criticized for it.

“Why would you do that?” another Mumsnet user responded angrily.

I regret my 2-month-old daughter’s name – it feels weird to say it out loud, I usually just call her ‘baby’

“No one will meet her and know she is named after a male author.

“They’ll wonder why you gave her a boy’s name or what that abbreviation stands for.”

“Stevie is horrible,” wrote another. “Steve is bad enough for one man.”

Another important warning for the expectant parents was that everyone would think they had named their baby after Stevie Wonder.

“Even Stevie Nicks’ real name isn’t Stevie – he’s Stephanie,” said one critic.

“Don’t call a girl Stevie, damn it.

“People will only think of Stevie Wonder.

“That’s where my mind immediately went.”

However, some Mumsnet users branded the name “super cool” and urged the expectant mother to “go for it”.

Supporters of the nickname also assured her that her daughter “won’t be bullied at school,” as many of them know female Stevies who have lived lives free of bullying.
