Explained: Himachal CM Sukhu’s samosa ruckus and CBI probe | India News – Times of India
The situation erupted after allegations surfaced that the CID had launched an investigation into the incident. However, the Prime Minister and authorities have denied these allegations.
“There is no such thing… The CID got involved in the issue of misconduct,” Himachal CM Sukhu told news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, Deputy General CID Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha also said it was an internal matter of the CID and should not be politicized.
“This is completely an internal matter of the CID. It should not be politicized. The CM does not eat samosas… We have not informed anyone about this. We have only said to find out what happened. The government has nothing to do with this… We will find out how this information was leaked,” he said.
How did the argument arise?
The row broke out during the CM’s visit to the CID headquarters on October 21, where refreshments mistakenly meant for him were served to his security detail. According to news agency PTI, the confusion started when an Inspector General (IG) asked for refreshments and delegated the task to a Sub-Inspector (SI), who then passed it on to an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Superintendent. agent. The officers collected the sealed snack boxes and informed the SI, who was the only one who knew that they were meant for the chief minister. However, further confusion led to the snacks being taken to the mechanical transport (MT) section, where they were accidentally served to security personnel.
This incident did not go down well with the BJP as Himachal Pradesh Opposition Leader Jairam Thakur questioned why it was being labeled as an ‘anti-government activity’.
Jairam Thakur said, “Today, the way the government takes decisions in Himachal Pradesh has become a topic of discussion across the country as decisions are taken without thinking. Another topic discussed is that the samosas did not reach where they should be. achieved, they got lost in the middle and the Chief Minister and Himachal Pradesh government felt that this is a very serious matter and an inquiry should be made into it.
Meanwhile, party spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari took a swipe at Sukhu, linking the accident to the state’s financial woes. He said, “The situation in Himachal Pradesh is such that the chief minister has no money to pay his own salary, there is no money to pay the chief secretary, there is no money to pay the MLAs. This shows that the financial condition of the state has become terrible due to Rahul Gandhi’s Khata-khat model and this is Rahul Gandhi’s guarantee model and his economic thinking has been exposed.”
The BJP spokesperson also criticized Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khata-khat’ model and drew a comparison with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier warning against the ‘Revdi culture’ of giving out freebies. He added, “In Karnataka too, we have seen how prices for daily needs, be it milk or water, have increased and Karnataka too is going through a financial crisis. Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the people of the country as all his promises have proven false today.”
