Fans slam ‘torturous’ details after watching Demi Moore’s graphic new film
IT’S only just been released, but Demi Moore’s new film The Substance is already causing a stir at the cinema – for all the wrong reasons.
The film stars Demi as fading celeb Elisabeth Sparkle, who uses a black market drug that creates a younger, better version of herself, with horrific side effects.
Margaret Qualley also plays the younger version of Demi’s character, and Dennis Quaid as a slimy TV producer.
Brits are already walking out of screenings of the film because of its graphic and gruesome scenes, but there’s one in particular that’s making people feel sick.
Even Demi warned viewers about the scene, where Dennis ate shrimp.
“I just want to warn everyone: the scene where Dennis eats the shrimp is by far the most violent scene in the entire movie,” she said during an interview with Seth Meyers.

And people have also started working on it Reddit to help think on the spot, with Dennis consuming 4 pounds of shrimp to get it perfect.
“Damn the sound effects and design in the movie are great but that scene and those sounds wtf,” one person wrote on the social media site.
“I can’t stand people making noises like that while eating, it sounded like negative ASMR if that’s a thing, lol torture sounds.
“Would make me give up information easier and faster than Batman could.”
“I think noise torture is definitely a thing,” another added.
“If I’m going to watch it I’ll bring headphones,” wrote a third.
“Just the close-up of his mouth in the trailer gives me the creeps.”
As someone else admitted, that scene, and the movie as a whole, had put them off their food completely.
“It is rare for me to feel physically sick or repulsive, even after the movie is over,” they wrote.
“I had to take time to do some other fun dance games before I could eat, which is not my norm.
“I’m a horror fan and enjoy watching movies I like multiple times, but I won’t be rewatching The Substance anytime soon.”
Others were more complimentary about the film, with some even suggesting that Demi should be nominated for an Oscar for her role in it.
“I certainly think so and I’m curious to hear other thoughts on this,” one person wrote.
“I actually think it deserves nominations in multiple categories to be honest.”
“An Oscar for a horror movie? We all know that’s not going to happen,” another insisted.
“Both Demi Moore and Dennis Quaid deserve nominations, but that’s a long shot because of the genre this movie is in,” someone else commented.
As another said, “This whole thing felt really well cast. They all played their roles well.”
