One person wrote: “Bet van an ick this, but I really can’t find out why they left the letter ‘E’ small letters, but the rest have capitalized?
“There is certainly a ‘boring excuse’ behind all this?”
However, There is an explanation.
The design has been in place since 1973 after fan and calligraphy David Lewis won a competition to make one New badge For the club.
Explaining the ‘e’, he said Nottinghamshire Live: “If you have the badge at the top and the word forest underneath, the word forest had to be distinctive and individual.
“The original idea had a very round ‘o’. I then went on to the more condensed letters, which seemed to have a little more solidity and seemed to the badge.
“It happened in such a way that the small letters ‘e’ between the ‘r’ and the ‘s’ fits instead of a straight ‘e’.
‘Serif or Nottingham’
“I also wanted it to be a little more personal – a little less than a company and more like a football club.
‘It is then a unique forest, instead of someone’s forest.
“Then it was almost like an affectionate thing to wrap the tail of the ‘r’. It was something that was more personal.
“That was the idea to make things more personal, more more unique, more as it is our forest, not just the word ‘forest’.”
The reasoning is well known at Forest -fans – and there were numerous answers to the post on Facebook.
It was said, “It is a logo, if it attracted your attention, it worked.”
Another wrote: “Because we are forest and we do what we want.”
A third added: “It just looks so cool.”
And a final user made a very smart joke: “It’s the font. Serif or Nottingham.”
