The father of a teenage girl who, a teacher and a fellow student, described deadly at a Christian school in Madison, was arrested in December on Thursday and accused in connection with the case, the authorities said.
Jeffrey Rupnow, 42, from Madison was loaded With contributions to the delinquency of a child and two counts to provide a dangerous weapon to a person under the age of 18, resulting in death, the police show.
Mr. Rupnow is the father of Natalie Rupnow, a 15-year-old student at the abundant Life Christian school known as Samantha. She died after the attack of what seemed to be a self -inflicted shot wound, the police said.
De Schutter opened fire in a reading room for students of different figures at the Abundant Life Christian School on December 16, the authorities said at the time.
The two people who were killed were identified as Rubi P. Vergara, 14, a student, and Erin M. West, 42, who was mentioned in a personnel directory as a replacement coordinator at Abundant Life.
Two other students were seriously injured in the attack and have recovered since then, officials said. Four others – three students and a teacher – were admitted to the hospital with less serious injury.
The shooter had two pistols with him, the authorities said in December, although the police said they believed that they only used one in the attack.
The investigation is aimed at how the teenage girl got its weapons, the police said. They said they would announce more details of the study on Thursday afternoon at a press conference.
Mr Rupnow is confronted with a maximum of 18 years in prison if he is found guilty on all points. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
He is the newest parent who is confronted with charges in connection with a shooting at school. James and Jennifer Crumbley were each sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison in April 2024. They were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter because they could not prevent their teenage son from killing four fellow students in a high school in Michigan in November 2021.
The Cumbleys were the first parents to be directly charged with the deaths caused by a child in a massive shooting at a school. Their son Ethan, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, argued guilty of 24 charges, including murder in the first degree, and was convicted in 2023 To life in prison without the possibility of conditional release.
