File FIRs against JMM and BJP for press meets during silence period, says Jharkhand CEO
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Tuesday took note of the press conferences held by both YMM and BJP during the lull period ahead of the second phase of assembly elections on Wednesday and directed the district selector of Ranchi to register FIRs against the two parties. JMM and BJP held press conferences at their respective party offices on Tuesday.
“Such activities during the silence period are a violation of the model code of conduct. Similar incidents have been reported earlier and a notice has been filed with the Congress and the BJP,” Kumar said. Ge added that the district electoral officer would send a report on the registration of FIRs to his office after which it would be sent to the EC for further action.
