‘First choose someone, then…’: Akhilesh Yadav cites ‘pattern of encounters’ under BJP govt | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday alleged that the BJP has created a “pattern of encounters” and termed the deaths of criminal suspects in police shootings as “fake”.
Akhilesh Yadav outlined the alleged pattern in a post on X, stating, “A pattern of encounters has been established in the BJP government: first pick someone, then concoct a story of a fake encounter, then show fake photos to the world and after the murder, if the family members tell the truth, pressurize them with all kinds of pressure and temptations, protect the top leadership by bringing out their second-rate leaders when they are exposed by opposition parties.”
He further accused the BJP of using media propaganda, making its leaders justify the clashes and discrediting authentic media channels. The Samajwadi Party leader alleged that when public anger escalates, the case is covered up by superficial investigations.
“The more the BJP tries with its troops to make such meetings happen, the bigger the lie is that meeting. The BJP has come across the truth itself,” the SP leader claimed.
Akhilesh’s latest criticism comes against the backdrop of the recent death of Mangesh Yadav, an accused in a jewellery shop robbery, who was killed in an alleged gunfight with the police. The SP chief had earlier termed the encounter as “fake” and alleged that it was based on the caste of the accused.
However, UP Director General of Police Prashant Kumar on Monday denied the allegations, saying the state police are not biased and are not acting impartially.
