A flight attendant has revealed the astronomical fines they could face if they fail to urge passengers to follow some simple rules.
In a TikTokKeana, 31, from Georgia, encourages viewers to “just listen” when they take a flight and a staff member asks them to do certain things.
Some of their requests may include fastening seat belts, placing bags under seats, uprighting chairs, or securing tray tables.
Other things that will be addressed include children over the age of two sitting on their parents’ laps and animals blocking the aisles.
While some passengers may find the requests annoying, Keana stresses that the rules are in place for safety reasons only and are enforced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The American Airlines employee wrote in the video’s caption, “We’re here to keep you safe, so any minor inconveniences you may experience are part of our job.”
To encourage passengers to behave appropriately, Keana adds: “It’s free to be kind.
“It costs a lot to get off the no fly list, honey. Choose wisely.”
If Keana fails to provide instructions and passengers do not comply, she could face a $10,000 fine.
The globetrotter reiterates her point, telling viewers, “Just listen, just listen, please just listen.”
“We ask you to do these things for a reason.”
Keana notes that the $10,000 fine applies “per violation.”
So, every time I don’t ask you to put your seatbelt on, I’m also not asking you to put your bag underneath. [your seat]or I don’t ask you to lift that little tray or put your seat up… That costs $10,000… and the FAA can do that when they’re on board.’

To discourage passengers, Keana concludes, “I don’t care if the previous flight attendant didn’t ask you [to follow the rules].
“They didn’t care about that fine. I cared about that fine. So CashApp me or obey.”
To date, Keana’s video has been viewed over 70,000 times, with many viewers expressing disbelief at the hefty fine.
One commenter wrote: ‘Eeeek! Per violation… can you imagine all the potential fines on a single flight… Gosh, that can add up fast.’
Another viewer wrote: ‘I will never complain/grumble again. There are no fines during my watch!!’
Keana noted in the comments that she knows of flight attendants who have “personally been fined for these reasons.”
She also says that FAA agents don’t have to sign in when they’re on a flight, so they can surprise the crew.
