Wild officers in Florida killed three black bears in the southwestern part of the state, less than 24 hours after a man was killed by a bear in the same area, officials said Tuesday.
It was not immediately clear whether one of the three bears was involved in the attack on Monday morning, in which Robert Markel, 89, was killed in a wooded, non -recorded part of Collier County.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the remains of the bears were to the Beren committee to GaineSville, FLA.
The attack on Mr. Markel was the first time that a bear had killed a person in the history of Florida, said Mike Orlando, the coordinator of the Bear Management Program for the committee, during a press conference on Tuesday.
The committee supervises the investigation into the deadly encounter, which attracted a serious presence of natural officials to Jerome, Fla., Just north of Everglades City, FLA. The dog of Mr. Markel was also killed the same morning by a bear, although it was not clear whether they were being attacked by the same.
Mr. Markel’s daughter called 911 after she had seen the attack on his dog and her father, the local television station could not find Wplg reported.
Natural officers Zetten Falls and cameras in the area where the attacks took place, said civil servants during the press conference.

On Tuesday, Wildlife officials reminded people what they should do if they come across a bear who can come into contact with people and pets while sniffing around for food.
“Stand,” said Mr. Orlando. “Let yourself look big. Talk to the bear in a calm way. Don’t run. Don’t play.”
In a sausage case scenario, he said, people have to take action.
“Even if a bear touches you,” he said, “you have to fight back.”
