Floyd Mayweather’s next demonstration match against MMA fighter and YouTuber Mikuru Asakura has been confirmed September 25 in Japan.

A press conference was held in June to announce the fight, which will be Mayweather’s fourth exhibition game since retiring in 2017.

Before the fight was announced in June, there had been speculation that Mayweather could step back into the ring against former opponents Manny Pacquiao or Conor McGregor.

Confirmation that the fight with Asakura will continue puts an end to hopes for a dream rematch with McGregor – the last fighter Mayweather fought professionally in 2017.

However, Asakura joins Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, YouTube personality Logan Paul and boxer Don Moore to defeat Mayweather in a demonstration fight since his retirement.

McGregor defeated Nasukawa, although his fights with both Paul and Moore both ended the game and ended in a draw as they were unscored matches.

“My legacy is already set in stone,” Mayweather said at his press conference in June.

“But it’s still great to just go around the world and entertain people from all walks of life.

“I’m pretty sure he’ll come out and do his best like any man, but I’ve seen every style, so my job is to get out there, be myself, have fun and do what i do best.

‘In September we’re going to have fun and entertain people. I’m Floyd Mayweather to him. He’s just another opponent to me.’
