Follow my 2-minute skin care rule or you’ll literally be wiping money off your face
An esthetician has shared a little-known rule that will help you maximize the results of every product in your skincare routine.
Amish Patel revealed some must-have tips to keep skin healthy and youthful.
He is an award-winning beautician at Intrigue Cosmetic Clinic in Kent, England.
In an interview with The US Sun, he shared daily habits you can adopt to improve your appearance.
WONDERFUL MINUTES
Patel said it’s important not to overcomplicate your skin care routine, as this will make it increasingly difficult to stick to.
He said skin care should be “simple but effective” because consistency is necessary to see the benefits.
“For daily preparation you need a good quality cleaner,” he said.
“I prefer a product with mild exfoliating properties for my older clients as it stimulates skin cell shedding, which naturally slows down with age and can result in a dull complexion.
“You also need a hydrating serum and a high SPF.”
He said that evening routines should not contain more than four products.

A “rich moisturizer” should only be applied when your skin needs it.
“Applying your skin care products in the correct order will help them absorb better into your skin and work more effectively,” he says.
“Always apply your serum before your moisturizer. The thicker the cream, the more of a barrier it can create on your skin.
Wait at least two minutes between each application to allow the skin to absorb the product.
“Otherwise you are literally wiping money off your face.”
Patel said a practitioner can provide personalized advice on the best skin care products and treatments.
There is, however, one beauty salon treatment he would recommend.
“A chemical facial peel can be beneficial for reducing pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines,” he said.
FOOD FOR THE THOUGHT
Patel said a good skin care routine and wearing SPF 50 year-round should be combined with a diet rich in superfoods.
“I would always recommend including foods rich in vitamin C and amino acids, such as tomatoes, strawberries, citrus fruits, peppers and kiwis,” he said.
“Also reduce your intake of sugar and alcohol, which actively deplete your collagen.
“Vitamin C is naturally present in your skin and essential for maintaining your skin’s elasticity.
Uninterrupted sleep is best for your skin, as it gives the body time to repair and regenerate.

“As we age, collagen products decrease and the skin loses its firmness, begins to wrinkle and sag.
“However, vitamin C, taken orally and applied topically, can help preserve the collagen you have and protect it from further damage.”
Patel said vitamin C promotes healing but should not be used as a substitute for SPF.
He said that amino acids have antioxidant and emollient properties, which help hydrate the skin.
“You find them in meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, quinoa, buckwheat and soybeans,” he said.
SKIN OF DREAMS
Patel said eight to nine hours of sleep is the “golden number” for a good night’s sleep for skin rejuvenation.
“Uninterrupted sleep is the best way to really give your skin the benefits the body gets, because it gives it time to repair and regenerate,” he says.
“Turn off your digital devices, avoid alcohol, and establish a relaxing evening routine for your body and mind to give yourself the best chance of a good night’s sleep.”
