Grohl and Blum met in 2001 and have been married since 2003.

The couple share three daughters: Violet, 18; Harper, 15; and Ophelia, 10.

Following his announcement that he had fathered a child outside his marriage, his two eldest daughters both deleted their social media accounts.

His admission of marital infidelity followed a confession The Guardian in 2007 that he had also cheated on his first wife, Jennifer Leigh Youngblood.

The two married in 1994 but had separated by 1996, divorcing the following year.

In the same Guardian interview, Grohl said: ‘[My wife] Jordyn and [daughter] Violet are anchors that keep me from disappearing completely.”

In 2012, he told TIME that his family “has changed everything I do.”

He added: “It has changed everything I do. When you have children, you see life through different eyes. You feel the love more deeply and may be a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that will end up in your songwriting.”

Although little is publicly known about Blum, People reported that she once appeared on the cover of Teen, after being discovered in a supermarket at the age of 12.

She was reportedly working as a producer at MTV when she met the frontman.

But Grohl told Elle in 2007 that he wasn’t ready for a serious relationship when they first met, and stopped calling Blum after a few dates.
