The Whittlesea Football Club in Melbourne gathered behind the beloved player Xavier Dimasi after their old captain sustained a devastating injury during a match that needs reconstructive surgery.
Dimasi played in his 100th game for his club against Watsonia on April 12 when he was injured in the last quarter by a tough collision.
He was taken to the hospital with a large number of injuries and has not been able to work since.
His club has one Gofundme Page That explains the size of his injuries.
“The accident resulted in several fractures during his face, a considerable concussion of his face and dental damage,” the organizers wrote.
“The serious injuries required enormous reconstructive surgery to the face of Xavier, where six plates were inserted to repair the damage, as well as a palatal splint to hold his jaw in place while his bones cure.”

The Dimasi accident has enormous pressure on his partner, Brigid, who has taken full time care tasks.
“Brigid offers Xavier full -time care and demanded that she trusts her own sick leave to ensure that XAV is cared for,” continued the GoFundMe organizers.
‘With the increasing financial pressure and all available leave, Brigid used back to work, taking breaks all day long to ensure Xavier.
“With medical and dental agreements that will continue in the coming months, they are under considerable pressure to balance the health and costs of recovery.”
The Whittlesea Footy Club praised the character and contributions of Dimasi to the community.
“Xavier has been more than a player,” posted the club on Facebook.
“He has been a leader, a mentor for our juniors and a real role model. His dedication to our club and our young players is unparalleled – always first to help, offer words of encouragement or return it to the community he likes. ‘
The Footy Club urges the wider Footy community to contribute if they can.
