Former IFS Dipak Sarmah receives Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to environmental conservation | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Dipak Sarmah was granted the Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday, September 11, for his contributions to forest and environmental conservation.
Sarmah, an IFS officer from Karnataka in 1977, played a crucial role in the committee that Bellary mining scamwhich amounted to more than one lakh crore rupees.
The award was presented to Sarmah by SP Yadav, the patron of the Indian Forest Service Association, at an event at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ceremony was part of the second Eco Warrior Pricesjointly organised by the Indian Forest Service Association and Indian Masterminds.
Several other individuals were also honoured at the event for their remarkable work in various areas of conservation. Dr P Ramesh Kumar of Mysuru was awarded for Wildlife Conservation; while Anupam Sharma, DFO Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, was recognised for Forest Conservation. Pratibha Ahirwar, Director of Madhav National Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh), Jones Justine, Deputy Field Director of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, and Varun Jain, Deputy Director of Sitanadi Udanti Tiger Reserve in Gariyabad, were also among the awardees.
