And less than 48 hours after the end of the campaign, the terriers announced their retained list.

But it is crucial that club cult hero Jonathan Hogg was released with Huddersfield after 12 years.

HOGG, 36, captain the Yorkshire Club during their Stint in the Premier League.

The news of his departure at the end of his contract had already been confirmed.

That enabled him to say goodbye to his worshiping Huddersfield supporters after the last game of the season at home at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The club also let another nine stars go into the first team while their deals expire, while goalkeeper Chris Maxwell retired.

Huddersfield said: “As previously announced, club captain and legend Jonathan Hogg will say goodbye to the club this summer after 12 distinguished years in blue and white.

“Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell also left for the club after his recent pension.

“Now at the end of their contracts we will also say goodbye to nine other players with senior performances for the club in our first team and B team, with Danny Ward, Tom Read, Matty Pearson, Ollie Turton, Josh Ruffels, Scott High, Loick Ayina and Conor Falls all in the future.

“After Ward has unfortunately demolished his season due to an ACL injury, Ward gets the chance to continue his rehabilitation with the club until he is fit to go somewhere else.”
