Four arrested for murder of Greater Kailash businessman I | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Gunmen from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh and Trans-Yamuna region have reportedly killed a Dubai-based businessman Nadir Shah in South Delhi Greater Kailash On Thursday night, a probe revealed that the Delhi Police’s special cell has managed to arrest around seven suspects — four of whom have been arrested — for the brutal murder that TOI reported on Friday. Two of the main shooters, captured on CCTV, have been identified as Madhur and Raju, but are on the run.
From now on, gangsters Lawrence BishnoiRohit Godara and Hashim Baba are believed to be the masterminds behind the shooting. While various motives have been suggested, investigators believe it was a “symbolic killing” meant to send a strong message to big businessmen in both Dubai and India.
There were several reasons why Shah was targeted. He was a friend of South Delhi gangster Rohit Chaudhary and another entity codenamed K. “This irked Bishnoi, who was apparently informed that Shah had a multi-crore rupee transaction with K,” a source said. “The Bishnoi group was also tipped off about how Shah was using his contacts to target Baba’s men. So they decided to send a message.”
A land shark codenamed AJ, hailing from South Delhi but now based in Dubai, and another criminal from Northeast Delhi, identified as Sabir, are also being probed for involvement in the conspiracy.
The Azamgarh module — comprising Akash, Prince and Vishal — arrived in the city on Thursday and stayed at Jamia Nagar. Baba’s men reportedly provided them with logistical support and weapons. A few other men, like Naveen from Sonipat, also joined them. They reached the gym in GKI in an auto-rickshaw and a two-wheeler. They zeroed in on the target standing outside the gym and Madhur pulled the trigger around 10.45 pm, a police officer said. The assailants fired 15 bullets, nine of which hit Shah. They then fled, some going to Seelampur and others elsewhere. Akash, Prince, Vishal and Naveen were arrested early on Friday with a copy of a US-made Ruger pistol and dozens of bullets.
Around midnight, a Facebook account in the name of Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the killing. “Our brother Samir Baba, lodged in Tihar Jail, had sent a message that Nadir was creating obstacles in our affairs and was friendly with our enemies, so we got him killed. Anyone who helps our enemies will meet the same fate,” the day-old account said in a post. Godara, the husband of Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, is responsible for many killings across the country, including that of Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Gogamedi. The post is cryptic, an investigator said, as it does not name Bishnoi, which is usually the case after such killings, but instead mentions the names of associates like Gogi Maan and Kala Rana. Godara is likely to have funded the shooters, the officers said.
Sources said the murder has a strong connection with the Trans-Yamuna region and Baba, the most feared gangster of the area, has emerged as a key figure in the plot. His rivalry with jailed South Delhi gangster Rohit Chaudhary is being probed. “Baba was irritated as Shah and Chaudhary were not allowing his men to operate in South Delhi areas like Aya Nagar etc. using their contacts. Nadir was also an informer for some cops and used the connection to tip off the police about the activities of the Baba gang,” a source said. Samir, named in the Facebook post, is also a gangster operating in northeast Delhi on Baba’s instructions but is currently in jail following the shooting at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in July.
Baba’s alliance with Bishnoi has been known to the police for over three years. “Bishnoi had initially instructed Baba to kill Siddhu Moose Wala. Baba’s aide Shahrukh had conducted a recce on the slain singer’s movements. Shahrukh even reached Mansa in Punjab with weapons but was unable to carry out the murder,” a source informed. Baba, who is in Mandoli jail and is facing charges under MCOCA, has over two dozen cases registered against him, including murder, extortion, attempt to murder and violation of the Arms Act.
