Four dead and one fighting for life in a horror crash south of Dubbo, NSW

Four people have died and one man remains fighting for life in hospital after a horror crash south-west of Dubbo on Friday evening.

Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway at 9.20pm to discover two cars had collided on the highway – about 30km from the regional town.

Two men, believed to be in their 20s, and an elderly man and woman died at the scene in Tomingley, NSW Police confirmed on Saturday.

A fourth man, who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Dubbo Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

None of the victims have been identified.

“Police have established a crime scene and are conducting an investigation into the crash,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“A report is being made for the corner.”

The Newell Highway is closed in both directions between Dubbo and Tomingley, and motorists are urged to take the Mitchell Highway near Tomingley Road instead.

Live Traffic NSW has said the road will be closed for ‘some time’, and has reminded motorists that the diversions are not suitable for B-Triple and AB Triple heavy vehicles.

The accident pushed the state’s toll to 248 this year.

Up to 10,793 people have been seriously injured on NSW roads this year.
