Four schoolgirls mowed down by a truck in Kerala, CM Vijayan condoles 'tragic' deaths
PALAKKAD: Four school students were killed after a truck hit them in Kalladikode of Palakkad district on Thursday evening. Several other students were injured. The girls attended a nearby high school and were walking home when the accident happened.
The incident took place on the Palakkad-Kozhikode National Highway at Panayampadam near Kalladikode. A cement truck lost control and hit the students before overturning. The injured were taken to local hospitals.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the Kalladikode incident as ‘shocking’ and ‘tragic’. He promised coordinated government support for the medical care of the injured students, adding: “A detailed investigation will be conducted and necessary action will be taken.” Further details are awaited.
