France evaluates Indian Pinaka multi-cylinder rocket launcher: French army officer | India News – Times of India
“We are evaluating the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher system because we need such a system. We evaluate the system among the other systems offered by the top countries offering such systems. India is among the countries with the highest arms production,” the French military said. Brigadier General Stephane Richou told news agency ANI.
Brigadier General Richou, who visited India for bilateral talks, highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations, which goes beyond commercial interests.
“This is much more than a business partnership and this is collaboration and this is a common future together,” he noted.
The DRDO-developed Pinaka MBRL, manufactured by several Indian companies including Solar Industries, L&T, Tata and OFB, has demonstrated its capabilities with a range of over 75 kilometers. Armenia has already placed orders for this system, while other countries have shown interest.
The weapon system was a topic of discussion during CDS General Anil Chauhan’s recent visit to France.
The French official emphasized technological cooperation between the nations, citing the joint production of Scorpene submarines. He also noted the ongoing Shakti military exercises and mutual participation in the National Day celebrations.
For the upcoming 25th edition of joint military exercises, France plans to host a substantial contingent of the Indian Army.
France is currently the second largest importer of Indian defense equipment after the United States, especially in the field of electronic components.
