He played as a comedian, a radio presenter, a television presenter and even received an MBE in 2023 for his services to the entertainment industry.

And after 24 years with his girlfriend and four proposal decks, room 101 host Frank Skinner68, this week made the headlines after he announced that he finally made the decision with Cath Mason.

Frank Skinner, however, is not actually the real name of the comedian.

His real name is Christopher Collins – a fact that is even stunned Princess Anne herself.

During a visit to Buckingham Palace To receive his MBE in April 2023, Frank said that Anne told him that it was ‘confusing’ that he had two names.

He also revealed the strange reason why he finally chose the name Frank Skinner as his alter ego.

“If I couldn’t make the princess laughing today, I wouldn’t feel like I deserved the medal,” he told Dad.

“I made her laugh everywhere, it was pretty consistent. She was a pretty good audience because she couldn’t go anywhere.

“She said it was a bit confusing that I have two names. I had to explain that when you are in the actors’ union, only one person can have a name.

‘Frank Skinner was someone from my father’s Dominoes team, so I chose that.

“I think she just thought it was funny how I had chosen my name – Domino’s do not sound glamorous enough to discuss in Buckingham Palace.”

After meeting the Cath all the way back in 1998 when she worked for his management company, the couple was together for 24 years before his marriage this week.

Frank had regularly joked about Cath, with whom he shares a son, rejected his proposals, but insisted that he would “connect.”

Frank finally revealed on Monday that the couple had made the decision in the last episode of him Frank from the radio Podcast with co-hosts Emily Dean, who burst into tears, and Pierre Novellie.

The comedian shared excitedly: ‘Can you brace yourself? You will never guess what I did on Monday: I am married. I married F *** ING!

‘Don’t be offended, we have not invited anyone. Buzz was a witness. We are not married in a room, but on the stairs in the town hall of Camden.

“I said to Cath:” Do you want to marry me? “And she said:” I don’t have a party! I don’t want a load of guests. I don’t go into a church. I don’t want a ring. I don’t wear stupid f **** ING white dress “.

“So it went on. “I don’t do this!” I said, “Oh, forget it.” And then about two weeks later I said, “Okay, we’ll do it your way”. I felt bad for the friends. I would have invited everyone. ‘

Frank, located in Hampstead, added: “We went for a walk on the heathland in the morning and I said,” Why are we doing this? ” She said, “I don’t know. Shall we not do it?” I said, “They are getting up, isn’t it, the witnesses.” We hadn’t told anyone else to be upset, and we actually thought “shall we not worry?”

‘The thing that nobody ever says about getting married is that it is pretty embarrassing. How can I say it? It’s a bit easy to get married. We have been together for 20 years. Cath is not going to wear a large white downy dress.

‘We hadn’t told anyone else except our child – I think you should have them now, it’s a modern marriage! Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue … and your children!

‘Anyway, we walk up the stairs and I, and they said to Buzz: “Just connect your phone there and you can play the music. So we came in to lie from a casino soul through autumn. That sounds Gimmicky, like getting married by Elvis in Vegas, but in fact the autumn meant so much to me and in our days.”

When asked what Cath wore, Frank replied: ‘She just wore a flowery dress. She moaned about that. I said, “You can’t have leggings!” When they spoke all the things we could not have at the wedding, I said, “At least you can wear …”? “

She said: “I don’t change my name and I don’t wear a ring. I don’t wear jewelry”, which is true. She said, “If I wear a ring, I will feel trapped.” I said, “You will be married, you should feel stuck! That what it symbolizes. It’s like a brace!”

‘This was the hardest and this is just not me and Kath … what you have to do is hold hands, both hands and standing opposite each other … as if we are going to do the gay gordons!

Me and Cath, we don’t hold hands unless … I mean, as I get older! So that was difficult. We had to look each other in the eyes and I know she thinks, “Why are we doing this?” Anyway, I hold both hands, I mean, come on, it’s like a origin of seance! And then we had to repeat the vows.

“She said,” You can kiss the bride. ” I kissed Cath. I don’t joke, it was as if I kissed a reserved employee under the mistletoe. I thought, “You are my wife now!” Anyway, the wedding ended. We played container drivers against the fall. ‘

When asked why he has made the knot now, he said: “I don’t know why. I just thought: “Maybe I have too much money, I will give her half in about five years!” I don’t know why we were married.

“It wasn’t even like a tax thing, so I don’t intend to die quickly, and by the time I die the reform will be in it and there will be no inheritance tax!”

He added: “The night before I got married, I was thinking in my bed:” If she is finished and accepting my money, I could end up in AP *** in a council home in my 80s, without money and nothing. ” But what is great about our relationship is that I could have those thoughts and come down to tell Cath on the morning of our wedding and she will say, “Yes, I know what you mean”, and then we are still getting married! We were good with that; It was hand in hand and looked at each other that we didn’t like! ‘

Frank added: ‘If you grow old,’ my partner ‘, that is what I tend to her, sounds like we are lawyers.

‘A man my age who says’ my girlfriend’ is almost as bad as a man my age says’ my skateboard ‘.

“There is no good word for someone you’ve been for 24 years if you are our age – except for a woman or husband.”
