Frank Warren led the tribute to boxing trainer and former champion James Cook – who died at the age of 66.

Cook – who won the British and European super weight titles during his career – was diagnosed with bladder cancer this year.

And after a short battle, he unfortunately died while Boxing Mourned for the respected coach and former hunter.

Promoter Warren placed: “Incredibly sad to learn about the death of James Cook MBE.

“A real lord of our sport who achieved incredible things inside and outside the ring.

“The work he has done for young people in East London will live on forever and he will be missed enormously.

“Our participation in his family and loved ones for their sad loss crack.”

Cook became professional in 1982 after a successful amateur career and fought British quantities in Michael Watson and Herol Graham.

He won the British and European titles in the space of a year and retired after he had lost in 1994 against Cornelius Carr.

Cook later became a coach and received a MBE in 2007 For services to juvenile justice in Hackney.

In Buckingham Palace he received the honor directly from Queen Elizabeth II.

In later years, Cook joined the camp of Anthony Yarde for the light-heavy weight Rematch victory over Lyndon Arthur in 2021.
