The French open stopped after an emergency.
Screams were heard of the stands during the Qinwen Zheng match with Victoria Mboko.
It is believed that someone fell and seriously injured himself.
The game was stopped and doctors rushed to the crowd to attend a person in need.
Adam Fielder, who was on comment, said: “Something has now happened in the crowd here at the top, a medical emergency at the moment.
“We are just going to have a little delay here, while the person who needs it to be treated gets the required help.
“I am sure that the paramedics will soon be on site to deal with this. So heavily these situations, because you need the person to get the relevant help, just no idea how long this delay will last for the players.
“Tough for Zheng, after she had just saved those breaking points, she would have her chances by riding the momentum in this next game and trying to win this competition as quickly as possible. It is just not knowing how long this will be.”
Co-commentator Lucie Ahl added: “That is what the issue is, Mboko still gets up and looks further, supervisor comes up the field.
“It is very hot, it was hotter yesterday, but we had this kind of temperatures.”
Both Zheng and Mboko had to wait patiently while the case was treated – Zheng was a set and 5-3 up at the time.
The court’s supervisor spoke with the players and told them: “It can take a long time, someone fell and they are very badly injured.”
