Jessica Pegula suffered mean abuse of horrible trolls after losing her French open competition.

And a final user posted a photo of a playing card with the words “you Die” written on it.

Pegula called those who send the comments “insane and delusions”.

She added: “And I don’t allow DMs and try to remember when I have to close my comments during tournament weeks, but they always find a way to my timeline.

“This stuff has never really disturbed me, but did another sport deal with our level?

“I would like to know, because it seems to be predominantly tennis? It is so disturbing.

“Every person on tour deals with it. It’s so bad. Those are just very small fragments.

“I am told that my family should get cancer and regularly die from people here. Absolutely crazy.

“I have seen stories about reactions/threats/stalking in the headlines in other sports … Well news flash I can guarantee that it is 100 times worse.

“These comments are non -stop for us. Win or loss – it’s what they bet on.

“When fans come up with us as athletes to be more difficult and stronger, etc. etc. You simply realize that you don’t send people the death threats every day and hope that your family dies and you are giving birth to a still born child.”
